Liberators - Buffalo

9-8-09 @ Buffalo (COC)

Win 8-2; Tristia Patton, 9 K in 5 innings of relief

Hits: Addie Murders; Rachel Schrader RBI; Bekah Patton, 3 – single, double, & HR, 3 RBI; Ashley Payne RBI; Tristia Patton RBI

We were down 2-0 after 3 when we finally got on the scoreboard with 3 consecutive walks and an infield hit by Bekah Patton. We lost a great chance to score more when we didn’t get the call on a ball that looked like it hit chalk. Ashley Payne hit what we thought was a 2 RBI single down the right field line, only to have it ruled foul. We were able to play defense and keep them off the scoreboard for the next 6 outs and then we finally broke through.

In the 6th, we led off with 2 walks and tied the game on a 1st and 3rd double steal. Then B. Patton hit a double to right which gave us the lead. Jessie Bruce was hit by pitch and we were able to score with RBIs from Ashley Payne and Tristia Patton. We tacked on in the 7th after a leadoff hit by Murders, walk by Megan Vest, passed ball, and an RBI by Rachel Schrader. Then B. Patton stepped in again and this time hit one over the left field fence for the final of 8-2.

We didn’t play our best ball, but we are learning how to play from behind and that will benefit us down the road. We are scoring when we get baserunners, we just need to maximize our chances to run the bases. The most important thing, is that we all contributed to the winning effort and we were able to get a win. The game just had that “bad” feel to it tonight. Buffalo played error free tonight and you have to give them credit. But we overcame some adversity and found ways to capitalize.

JV: Bolivar 6, Bufflao 1; I am proud of the way we compete every day.
