Gm 19 @ Hollister 9-29-09
Won 7-0; Tristia Patton WP; 15 K
Hits: Addie Murders, Ashley Payne, Haleigh Brown, 2, RBI; Megan Vest, Double, 2 RBI; Candice Hare; Rachel Schrader 2, RBI
We scored 1 in the first, 2 in the second, 2 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth. We hit the ball well, up and down the lineup even though we only had 7 hits. The game plan was to put the ball in play and make things happen. We struck out 6 times, but we forced 4 errors and 2 walks. We are learning how to become “hard outs”. We are making the defenses work hard to get us out. And to compliment our offensive efforts, Tristia did a very good job of keeping hitters off balance (15K). I don’t believe Hollister was able to put a good swing on anything and hit it hard. Defensively, she had some help too. We allowed 1 hit, 1 hit by pitch, and on by error. Sarah MagaƱa threw one out at 2nd, Rachel Schrader made a great sliding catch and throw to double off another, and they stranded 1 runner on the night.
Back to back championships is never easy, but to see the way this group of girls has come together and really want something more is special. We felt that we could do something late in the season, and now it is here. Tonight was our most complete game of the season, at bat, in the field, and in the circle. We are very proud of the results of our work.
