Pitching: Brittany Wood 4 IP, 8K, 3BB
Our season came to a close with an un-official second place finish, due to the fact that our third game was rained out. It wasn't the most pleasant day for a tournament, with the heat index hovering around 100 degrees, but our girls fought through it and played hard. We had a slow start, losing to Poison, a team we beat during a June tournament. But we came back to pick up a win against Weabeleau. Our bats warmed up by the 2nd game, which allowed us to use our aggressive base running to score a few more runs. Brittany Wood did a nice job pitching through near exhaustion with the sweltering temperatures. Becca Roweton had a great day at the plate, bunting and slapping her way on base, going 3-5 for the day. These girls had a great season, finishing 18-10. They grew a lot as players, and as a team, and we are already looking forward to next season. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach them this summer. - Kyle Hedges

Leading Hitters: Jaelyn Halbrook, 2, (2B); Randi Hancock, (double); Taylor Sechler, Brittany Briggs, Karli Duren, and Alyssa Kelley all had hits.
We played very well tonight. After an easy win in Game 1, it was important to come out strong against a good HBC team. We did that by holding them scoreless and scoring 6 in the first. They answered by scoring 3 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd. Anna Pitts threw out 3 would be base stealers in the game and that was a huge lift to our defense and really kept them from having a chance to beat us. It is fun to see these girls perform. We are playing outstanding defense. – Jamie Halbrook

Friday 7-11-08. v. Jenkins. Win - 8 – 1 (Winning Pitcher - Sydney Julien, 2 shutout innings, AnnaMarie McGlone also pitched). Jenna Halbrook, Sydney Julien, Kennedy Hedges, Alexis Miller, and Mackenzie Austin each had one hit.
Our girls came out ready to play. We had strong pitching by both girls which helped in the victory. – Nathan Rothdiener
Morrisville Tournament: Saturday 7-12-08
BSC vs. Pleasant Hope. (game 1) Win - 3 – 2 (Winning Pitcher, Sydney Julien, 7 K’s). Sydney Julien, Jenna Halbrook, Alexis Miller, Kennedy Hedges, AnnaMarie McGlone, and Carissa Gooch each had one hit.
Pleasant Hope was a good test for our girls. They had a very good pitcher and hit the ball pretty well. Our defense once again led the way to our victory. We ran the bases well and put enough pressure on their defense to get the win.
BSC vs. Morrisville. (game 2) Lost 3-2, AnnaMarie McGlone had 11 k’s in a losing effort. Jenna Halbrook, Kennedy Hedges and Taylor Sechler had one hit each.
Morrisville's pitcher pitched a heck of a game. Our girls couldn’t get much going on the offensive side; we had trouble getting the ball in play. Defensively we played well enough and put ourselves in a position to win the game but came just a little short. I'm proud of the way the girls played in this tournament, it was a good test for them. Hopefully we can learn from this loss and continue to improve. Our winning streak ended at 21. That is an incredible number, regardless of the age group or level of competition.

Thursday 7-10-08 BSC v. Springfield Parkcrest Angels. W 14-0 (winning pitcher – Abby Toler)
Leading Hitters: Taylor Sechler 2 hits (double); Jaelyn Halbrook, 2 hits (double); Brook Townsend, double; Brittany Briggs
We played well defensively and ran the bases well. Our girls continue to stay disciplined at the plate and take what the pitcher and defense gives us. We walked 11 times to 1 strikeout. When we had opportunities to put the ball in play, we hit the ball well. – Jamie Halbrook
BSC v. Springfield Chill T – 7 – 7
Leading Hitters: Anna Pitts 3 hits, Taylor Sechler 2 hits, Abby Toler 2 hits, and Jaelyn Halbrook 1 hit.
We came out strong and took a 7-1 lead into the 5th, but we had some breakdowns defensively when they tied it up in the 5th and we could not get a run across in the bottom half and we ended in a tie. The girls were very upset about “losing” which is a great sign for the future. We have not lost a game since the middle of June and winning is becoming a very good habit. – Jamie Halbrook
Bolivar Softball Club took a combined Blue and Gold team to play 12U in Morrisville Saturday 7-12-08 (2nd Place Finish)
GM 1 – v. Buffalo W, 7 – 3 (Winning Pitcher Alyssa Kelley, 5 K)
Leading Hitters: Taylor Sechler, Anna Pitts (double), Jaelyn Halbrook, (triple), and Brandi Cline.
Our girls trailed 3-1 going into the 3rd, but responded by scoring 6 to get the win. It was good to see aggressive base running and aggressive play defensively. We did not have a lot of pitches to swing at, but when we did, we preformed fairly well.
GM 2 – v. Morrisville L, 12 – 3
Leading hitters: Taylor Sechler and Anna Pitts had hits.
We did not play the brand of softball we had been playing. We were on our heels at the plate and in the field. We only had 6 base runners and half of them scored; we have to put more people on base to keep the pressure on the defense. We played tentative and the score shows that is not what suits us. We have to be aggressive and use our speed and strength. 5 of our 9 outs (time limit) were strikeouts.
Record: 17 – 3 – 2

Pitching: Brittany Wood 5 1/3 IP, 6K, 6BB Taylor Hedges 2/3IP, 1K, 1BB
We started out the evening playing a solid game against the Diamonds, beating them for the 3rd straight time. But things went downhill from there. We struggled both offensively and defensively against Chaos. We couldn't get runners on base to make anything happen. We got down a few runs early, then it seemed the girls just lost their confidence, and then the wheels really fell off. I think/hope the girls learned something from this, that playing very solid softball throughout the last 5 weeks, doesn't guarantee things won't get tough. We have to play 1 game at a time, stay focused, keep our heads up, and give 100% until the last out of the game. - Kyle Hedges

Record: 24 – 6; 15 – 3 in player pitch.

We started out the evening playing a solid game against the Diamonds, beating them for the 3rd straight time. But things went downhill from there. We struggled both offensively and defensively against Chaos. We couldn't get runners on base to make anything happen. We got down a few runs early, then it seemed the girls just lost their confidence, and then the wheels really fell off. I think/hope the girls learned something from this, that playing very solid softball throughout the last 5 weeks, doesn't guarantee things won't get tough. Game 1, BSC 14U v. Strafford Lady Indians

Pitching: Brittany Wood 5IP, 5K, 7BB record 9-6
Game 2, BSC 14U v. Springfield Diamonds
W 8-2
Hitters: Brandi Kolody 1-2 (2B), Mariah Periman 1-3 (HR), 5 other girls added 1 hit each
Pitching: Taylor Hedges 5IP, 5K, 3BB record 3-1
The girls played very well last night. Defensively we only had 1 miscue in 10 innings, and offensively we put 30 balls in play. These girls have won 11 of their last 13 and continue to improve every week. During the Diamonds game, we entered the bottom of the 4th inning tied at 2-2. Our bats lit up, and we scored the maximum 6 runs allowed. Brandi Kolody drove in 2 of those runs with a double. The last 2 runs were the result of a 2 run home run by Mariah Periman. Mariah really found the center of the ball during her at-bat. It was a great way to end the inning. - Kyle Hedges

Hitters: Sydney Julien, Katelyn Warren, Alexis Miller (2B), AnnaMarie McGlone (2B), Aleena DeRossett, and Mackenzie Austin (2B) 2 hits each; Miranda Lightfoot 3 hits.
We hit the ball very well tonight, but our defense is what won the games. The Panthers hit the ball very well, and seemed to have runners on all night, but we made some very good plays, and some even better throws to keep them from taking advantage. It seemed that we just kept getting outs at the right time. They were a nice challenge for us, but we finished strong and completed our 19th straight win. – Nathan Rothdiener

We have improved so much in the last month that we look like a completely different team. Lead by another great pitching outing by Wood, we played well defensively, and continued our approach at the plate of putting a lot of balls in play, forcing the opposing team to make plays. With very similar pitchers, it comes down to whichever team plays the best defense wins, and last night, that was Bolivar. - Kyle Hedges
