The Bolivar softball Lady Liberators opened the 2011 season with an 8-0 win over the defending Missouri Class 2 state champion Warsaw Lady Wildcats Tuesday at Warsaw.
Taylor Sechler led the Bolivar offense with three hits, including a double, and two RBI. Carlie Proctor added two hits and two RBI. Anna Pitts had two hits Sarah MagaƱa doubled.
Tristia Patton pitched the win. She also helped the offense with a double and one RBI.
“We hit and pitched the ball well,” Bolivar coach Jay Halbrook said. “Patton allowed only one hit.
“Our defense was OK, but we plan to clean some things up. We kept putting pressure on Warsaw and eventually scored three runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the 8-0 final. Warsaw is a very good team and the defending state champion. We feel good about the outcome tonight. We are proud of the way we have started.”
The Lady Liberators also took on Ozark Thursday, Aug. 25. They will host Strafford at 5 p.m. Monday, travel to Willard Tuesday and host Reeds Spring at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.

Returning starters, Tristia Patton, Jr. (2nd Team All COC, 1st Team All District, and 2nd Team All Southwest Region), Jaelyn Halbrook, Jr. (1st Team All COC (Unanimous), 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Southwest Region and 1st Team Academic All State), Sammy Jacobson, Jr. (2nd Team All District and 2nd Team Academic All State), Anna Pitts, Jr., Carlie Proctor, Jr., Abby Martin, Jr., Mackenzie Hitchcock, Jr., Haley Rauch, Fr., Michaela Rudy, Fr., Taylor Sechler, Fr., look to provide a solid defensive group and each figure to add to an exciting season.
Liberator Softball returns 13 letter winners and looks to add a quality group of Freshman.
