Evangel University is hosting a hitting clinic January 24, 2009. Learn the same hitting philosopies and techniques used by the US Olympic softball team from 2 time Olympic gold medalist Crystl Bustos and her personal hitting coach Howard Carrier. Players will have the opportunity to work with Crystl, Howard, and members of the EU softball team. The clinic is a "hands on" hitting clinic with Crystl Bustos providing instruction and feedback. Players should bring their own bats, batting gloves, and helmets. (No cleats)
There is a morning session 9-12 and an afternoon session 2-5. Cost is $80 (pre-registered by 1-1-09) and $100 after 1-1-09. The first 60 registrations in each sessions will be accepted.
Pictures with Crystl and autographs will be available throughout the day for $10.
I will have copies of the brochure available and hopefully one that could be put on the website for download.

What a year!
Bolivar Softball ended its season today with a 6-2 loss to Republic. However, Bolivar earned its 20th win on Friday night with a 4-2 win over Reeds Spring.
The district championship game came down to a single swing of the bat. With the bases loaded in teh first, Republic lined a hit into left center to clear the bases with a controversial call made at the plate that would have ended the innnig and denied Republic their 3 run. However, Bolivar hung on to the game until the 5th. In that inning Republic plated 3 insurance runs to effectively end the game, or so they thought. Bolivar threated in the 6th but were unable to get that big 2 out hit. Then in the 7th, Bolivar scored twice to get the final of 6-2.
The loss ended the High School career of Jess Rumfelt, Dani Sharp, Jordan Halbrook, Rachel Terrell, Katy Roweton and Lindsay Lehman. Good luck to each of those ladies as they go on with their Senior year.
The Liberators ended their 2008 competition with a 44-11 record (summer and fall combined)

The tie was short-lived however, as Branson scored a run the the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs to claim the win 8-7. It was Senior Night in Branson.

19-5
WHEW! What a night. On Senior night the Liberators win 3-2. But that isn't 1/2 the story. Bolivar and Camdenton faced off for 9 innings and the score was tied at ZERO. In the top of the 10th, Camdenton got a runner on and tried to sacrifice. We did not get the call at second and Camdenton had runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. Camdenton bunted again and we did not get the runner at 3rd. Bases loaded and no outs. Eventually, Camdenton did score 2 and Bolivar recorded 3 outs taking us to the Bottom of the 10th. Jordan Halbrook led off with a single, Katy Roweton hit into a fielders choice and Addie Murders singled to right. Roweton went to 3rd and Murders took 2nd on the throw. With one out, Jess Rumfelt singled and the Centerfielder misplyed the ball and the score was tied with a runner at second. Bolivar did not score and that took us to the 11th. Bolivar scored with one out as Haleigh Brown grounded out and Jess Bruce scored the game winner.
The win improves the Bolivar record to 19-5 with only Branson standing in the way of a 20 win season.
